Brandy's Story

Brandy was rescued as a wee chick from an egg farm in Pennsylvania. Male chicks are of no use to the egg industry so they are routinely destroyed, but Brandy escaped this fate. He lived with his rescuers at Oohmahnee Farm for most of his 9 years, where he developed a real affection for us non-winged two-legged animals.
When we agreed to adopt a herd of goats and sheep from Oohmahnee upon their closing (story here) we had no idea that Brandy was part of the package! As you can see from the pictures below, he comes up to our residence every morning and gobbles up grapes and other treats. Jason Tracy of Oohmahnee Farm warned us to always greet him warmly by name -- a few years ago, when he forgot to instruct some caretakers of this, Brandy became very mopey and depressed because he felt ignored!
It was a cold day when Brandy arrived. Here he is with "dad" Jason Tracy of Oohmahnee Farm. See how relaxed his legs are?
300 channels and nothing good to watch....
Every morning he shows up at our front door, demanding breakfast.
Our doggies are not thrilled at the pecking order he's established!
Hanging out with his friend Will, who comes by often.
...that's better. much more entertaining.

UPDATE: Since we created this page Brandy has gone on to Rooster heaven after almost 10 years. He is greatly missed!
