We’ve got one word for our good friend and volunteer extraordinaire Jean Rhode: dedicated. We often hear ourselves breathe a sigh of relief knowing that she’ll be coming up from Brooklyn and her job in advertsing for yet another 3-4 day stint at the farm -- like she pretty much does every week. She arrives early and stays late, bringing bagels and snacks for the staff and dried & fresh fruits for the animals -- and works her tush off the whole time she’s here.

She is truly like having another employee and is willing and happy to do just about anything you ask her to. She loves each and every one of these animals as if he/she were an old and beloved friend. She’s an eager & content executor of any task asked of her and she is one of the most generous, thoughtful and humble people we know. The sanctuary residents are very lucky to have our sweet Jean. She is, beyond a doubt, a very, very, very…good…egg.

Did we mention she drives up from Brooklyn?
