JUNE JAMBOREE
THIS WEEKEND!
Sat 6/14 (Rain 6/15)
Bring your dad out to the farm for a day of fantastic food, music and quality critter time! You can even sponsor your favorite farm animal in his honor. And nationally syndicated cartoonist Dan Piraro ("Bizarro") will be there, drawing caricatures of folks and selling signed prints of his snazzy limited-edition poster he designed exclusively for the event (left). We can use some help, please email us if you're willing to volunteer.
NYC people, just because you don't own a set of wheels doesn't mean you have to miss out. >>GET ALL THE DETAILS |
Welcome Andy the Pig & Felix the 3-legged Lamb
 |
 |
Days away from heading to auction to become bacon and chops, big, pink and handsome Andy the pig is happy to be one of our newest rescues. Outliving his value for the Morris County (NJ) Park Department’s “living historical farm,” Andy’s future looked grim until a caring employee at the park fought to allow him to be spared. Named after the late Andy Stallman, whose trust has been instrumental in our growth, sweet Andy is now living the good life here at the farm.
Baby Felix the lamb was also headed to slaughter before a kind woman in Bronx, NY, saw him being unloaded into one of the city’s many live-kill markets. Weighing only 12 lbs, little Felix wouldn’t have made much of a meal! But he also wasn’t worth keeping around by the “farmer” due to his handicap -- a rear leg that was either torn or chewed off. It broke this woman's heart so she quickly offered cash for him. Having read our article in the NY Times about Albie, our prosthetic-wearing goat, and Jenny, our prosthetic-wearing Director, she knew who to call.

NEW MERCHANDISE
Graciously designed and donated by the talented artist Tara Hogan, this 11x14" letterpress print encompasses all we stand for.
The text on the bottom is a Buddhist mantra for peace that translates to "Happiness to all beings everywhere." We couldn't agree more. You can buy one of our 50 prints at the JUNE JAMBOREE, and if there are any left you may purchase the print here. If you're out of wall space, why not buy this design as a t-shirt instead? Which reminds us... WE'VE GOT A WHOLE BUNCH OF NEW T-SHIRTS FOR SALE

All the Goat That's Fit to Print
The response to May's NY Times article has overwhelmed our email and PO boxes. The story of Albie the goat and Jenny the human -- both amputees -- went global via the International Herald Tribune and was picked up by other newspapers across the country & around the world. We heard from as far away as Nepal, and the Swedish ambassador to the US dropped us a kind note. Thanks to writer Fernanda Santos and photographer Joyce Dopkeen for their wonderful reporting. Get more details about Albie on our site, and be sure to check out a great video piece done by ZooToo.com.
