So much fun you have to use a wacky font for their names, Alt-cabaret diva Nellie McKay and cartoonist/funnyman Dan Piraro are putting their talents together for one night only to benefit the Woodstock Sanctuary. Saturday, September 20th, 8pm at the Colony Café in Woodstock, NY. Hosted by the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society (MHVS). MAjor Milestone for farm animals in california

The most essential vote in California this November won't be for president but for farm animals. If Proposition 2 passes, California will ban some of the most egregiously cruel confinement systems used by large-scale agribusinees — veal crates for baby calves, gestation crates for mother pigs and battery cages for laying hens. This ban also has great benefits for the environment and food safety. Please urge your friends in Cali to vote "yes" on Prop 2... MUCH MORE HERE

SHEEP STORIES: PATSY

12-year-old Patsy is one of the friendliest sheep on the farm. She was born at a sanctuary after her pregnant mother, Celia, was surrendered by a bankrupt sheep farm.

At the end of a long day munching grass Patsy loves to be scratched behind her ears and on her chest — if you stop she'll "give you the hoof" until you resume. This is very effective, as you can imagine, and now she's taught the same trick to fellow flockmates.
