This Sunday, Sept 28th at 1pm, we open the farm to well-behaved dogs, cats and other companion critters for our annual celebration of the Four-legged, Feathered, and Finned.
This multi-denominational blessing commemorates Gandhi's birthday, St. Francis of Assisi Day and World Farm Animals Day.
After the blessing music, refreshments and ridiculously good karma will all be bountiful. $10 donation; $5 for members. Dogs on leashes, please! >>more info

Seized in a neglect case, Louise lost part of her left ear to frostbite last winter and had an overgrown hoof twisting the ankle on her back leg. She'll be in a cast for several months to see if the over-stretched tendons in her leg can regain shape. Despite it all, she's friendly as can be and has made lots of 2- and 4-legged friends. Welcome, Lousie!

Monthly Moolah Means Much!
Running a Sanctuary is expensive but the rewards are enormous. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters for the care of the animals at the sanctuary.
Even if you think you can't afford to help us in this roller-coaster economy, what about a small monthly donation? If you think $10 a month doesn't make a difference, tell that to Clover, here, who will be enjoying 3 delicious bales of hay you just bought her (and a nice seat for Jude, one of our youngest supporters).
YES! I HAPPEN TO BE AWESOME,
I WILL DONATE MONTHLY!
$10 - $15 - $20 - $30 - $OTHER

"CONSTRUCTION" CHICK
A sentence including the words "construction worker" and "chick" usually wouldn't belong in our newsletter. However, this chick, a young "broiler" as they're known in the meat industry, was rescued by a construction worker named Brian in New Jersey. His job site is right next door to a kosher slaughterhouse, where crates of peeping birds are delivered every day in tall stacks.
One day a crate tipped over. The slaughterhouse workers wrangled up all the lose birds except for this one, who escaped.
Brian witnessed the whole thing, scooped her up and named her Chickpea.
You can help us care for Chickpea by sponsoring her, or another critter.
