Uncle Sam
Uncle Sam, left, is a mean-looking guy who points a lot. Felix, right, is a sweet, three-legged lamb rescued from a Bronx slaughterhouse.
Given the choice of stuffing Uncle Sam's pockets or making a tax-deductible donation to the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, we humbly submit that the farm is a better choice!

2008 has been a great year for WFAS, and we're proud of the dozens of animals we've rescued, plus the hundreds we've helped from unmentionable fates...

Clover...from Clover, a goat found abandoned and shivering only a few days old in Yonkers...

...to Chickpea, a chicken who escaped when a stack of transport crates tumbled...

Andy the Pig...to Andy, a pig who was “no longer useful” as a stud at a state-run historical farm...

...to Louise the sheep, whose ear and feet were badly damaged by frostbite and neglect.

Even larger is our pride in how many thousands of visitors leave the sanctuary with new, first-hand knowledge of how billions of animals just like ours suffer miserable lives in commercial farms -- large and small -- and how some simple changes in diet can really make a huge difference in the world. Our proximity to New York City and our location in a popular tourist town generates a lot of traffic through our doors.

Donate NowIt is the experience of seeing farm animals enjoying life the way they should, healing from the physical and mental scars of their pasts, that touches people the most. Many who visit have never even come in contact with farm animals (other than ingesting them and their products daily), so we have the unique opportunity to make the connection between their cold cuts and "nuggets," and the curious, loving individuals they used to be.

We run largely off donations from the public, so that's why we are asking YOU to make a much-needed end of year donation so that we can continue our important, life-saving work. The end of the year is just a few days away but it's not too late -- all donations made by midnight EST Dec 31 will qualify for a 2008 tax deduction. You can also phone in a donation at 845-679-5955 or send a check to the address below.

Thank you so much for your compassion and support... and Happy New Year!

For the animals,
