The call came from Yonkers, NY, a month ago — a woman at first thought she heard a cat in heat in her yard. Instead, she found what she described as a young goat the “size of a small dog.” Small dog indeed!

When Animal Caregiver Mike Patrick returned with this little gal, we discovered she was less than 3 days old, only 7 pounds, much smaller than a cat… and her residual umbilical cord was still attached. How did she end up in a fenced-in yard in the middle of a residential neighborhood? >>READ MORE

Virtual "Glass Walls" for Slaughterhouses

cameraSir Paul McCartney once said, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian." How true! And it may not be that far off.

As we recently reported, videos made by an undercover investigator of barbarically abused cows at the Chino/Hallmark slaughterhouse resulted in the largest beef recall in US history. That got the attention of Congress, and since the USDA clearly cannot be trusted to inspect, this video has generated interest in legislation to install video cameras in all slaughterhouses nationwide.

While cameras would certainly not stop all the abuse, it would be a big deterrent. The legislation is only in the most initial stages right now, but it certainly doesn't hurt to let your representative know how you feel. Go here to sign a petition or see the Facebook group.
